👋🏽 Hello there, I’m Mahima!
About me
👩🏼💻 I am a researcher and deep-diver currently pursuing a B.Tech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations at the Cluster Innovation Centre, University of Delhi. My work exists at the intersection of complex systems, chaos theory, and artificial intelligence.
I don’t just build models; I try to deconstruct the “why” behind the “how.” I am a firm believer in the philosophy of “first principles” research—prioritizing reading, reasoning, and studying the mathematical foundations of an idea before translating it into code. While my GitHub reflects my technical implementation, my true passion lies in the deep research and logical scaffolding that precedes the first line of code.
🌱 Currently exploring: Representation learning and the mathematical formulation of novelty.
👯 Open Source: Alum of the Wikimedia Foundation (Outreachy) and C4GT.
What Excites Me: The Search for Emergent Order
😃 While many see Machine Learning as a tool for prediction, I see it as a window into the computational multiverse. I am fascinated by how simple mathematical rules can give rise to immense, self-actualizing complexity.
The project I am most proud of is my research on Reservoir Computing (RC) for Image Encryption and Hyperchaotic Modeling. This work—currently under review at Springer—allowed me to explore how chaotic sequences and fractional-order systems can be leveraged for high-security data transmission. It represents my commitment to following a problem to its deepest mathematical roots.
Beyond the lab, I am a writer. I believe that translating abstract mathematical concepts into narratives on Medium is the ultimate test of comprehension. If I can’t tell a story about a complex topic, I haven’t mastered it yet.
Research Interests
- Generalized Agency: Exploring how “self” emerges in abstract computational spaces.
- Chaos & Cryptography: Utilizing Reservoir Computing and Logistic Maps for privacy-preserving systems.
- Representation Learning: Mapping how deep networks pick up different aspects of data over time.
- 3D Computer Vision: Analyzing gesture similarity and occlusion through point cloud dynamics.
Goals and Aspirations
📚 My goal is to move beyond “black box” AI and contribute to the philosophy of science through mathematical innovations. I aspire to build systems that aren’t just intelligent, but are grounded in a substrate-independent understanding of agency and top-down causation. I thrive in high-ownership environments and am eager to contribute to open-source research that addresses the foundational problems of our time.
